RAÚL GAZMURI, MD, PhD
Dr. Gazmuri is ICU Director and Section Chief of Critical Care Medicine at North Chicago VA Medical Center. He is also Professor of Medicine and Associate Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School. He is a fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine research committee.
Dr. Gazmuri has research laboratories at the North Chicago VA Medical Center and the Chicago Medical School supported by the VA Merit Review system, NIH, and Pharmaceutical Companies. The research focuses on pathways of ischemic injury that could influence resuscitation from cardiac arrest, with special focus on the role of the sarcolemmal sodium-hydrogen exchanger isoform-1. Dr. Gazmuri is the author of 17 peer-reviewed journal articles and 2 book chapters.
