PROFILE

Dr. Stelmack is on staff at the Blind Rehabilitation Center, Hines VA Hospital. She also holds a faculty position at Illinois College of Optometry and University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Dr. Stelmack conducts research in the areas of low vision rehabilitation, vision and aging, and vision care. Her research is funded through grants from Illinois Society for Prevention of Blindness, VA Rehabilitation Research & Development, and American Optometric Foundation.

She is an active member of several professional organizations. She has served as Research Committee Chairperson for the VA Optometry Field Advisory Council. She has also worked as Co-Chairperson of the Low Vision Committee of the Illinois Optometric Association and is a Past Chair of the Low Vision Section Council of the American Optometric Association. Since 1996, Dr. Stelmack has been a member of the American Optometric Association Council on Research.
