PROFILE

Dr. Walter is a Research Physiologist at Hines VA Hospital. He also holds the positions of Adjunct Associate Professor of Urology and Full Member, Graduate Faculty, Neuroscience Program at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Walter’s research program centers on urological problems following spinal cord injury, such as neural control of the bladder and electrical stimulation for neural prosthetic devices. A second area of research is the area of home monitoring. Database and internet applications using an interactive Web site are being developed. To support his research, Dr. Walter has received funding from the National Institute of Health and VA Merit Review. Dr. Walter is a prolific author whose articles detailing his research can be found in many scientific journals.

Dr. Walter serves as a field editor of several scientific journals, including, Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development and Neurourology Urodynamics. From 1995 through 2000, he was a member of the Board of Advisors and Editors, Journal for the Joint Centre for Research in Prosthetics and Orthotics. Dr. Walter can be found in the 1992 edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
