Why Donate
CARES realizes that, in order to accomplish its mission to continually enhance the health and health care of Veterans, support for medical research and education must be supplemented from sources outside the VA funding system. CARES encourages its investigators to pursue funding opportunities from other government agencies, private foundations, industry and philanthropic resources to advance progress and innovation in VA health-related research.
However, because of the intense competition for limited VA and external funding, there is a critical need for the support and generosity of individual donors to assist in the maintenance and growth of the CARES and VA research and education programs.
Donations to CARES can be directed to help support individual investigators, specific areas of research or educational activities.
Donations may also directed to the CARES General Research & Education Fund, which is used at the discretion of the Board of Directors to enhance the overall research and education environment by supporting shared resources, acquiring shared equipment, providing travel and educational opportunities for researchers and allocating resources to provide pilot funding to help investigators pursue new ideas and acquire preliminary data to support proposals for major research funding.
